BioThe Eradicator is a unit of Kryptonian technology. It was programmed to preserve the Kryptonian way of life at all costs. This lead it to a series of conflicts with Kal-El . . . Superman.
In the time after Kal-El fell to the Kryptonian warmachine known as Doomsday, the Eradicator, at that time a being of energy, went to Kal-El's inert body with the intention of possessing it, however, Superman was still alive, making the unit's plan impossible. Instead, it instinctively forged a new body by pulling matter from the Superman memorial. In doing so, and because of the contact with the comatose Kal-El, the Eradicator came to believe it WAS Superman, and it began to act accordingly.
After the return of the true Kal-El, the unit was fused with the mind of a human scientist named David Connor. Hence the name.
The Eradicator was a much harsher dispenser of justice, willing to go so far as to maim, cripple, and even kill criminals. It was less of a protector, and more of an avenger.
